Organized pig breeding has existed in Denmark since the 1890s. Today, DanBred runs a modern, unique and highly effective breeding system, which makes sure the best breeding animals are always available to pig producers worldwide.

DanBred breeding animals are characterized by high fertility, large viable litters, outstanding feeding conversion, low slaughter loss and a high meat percentage. Each day, their professional development department at the Danish Agriculture and Food Council, Pig Production, works to optimize breeding so that DanBred stays ahead of the competition and remains the customers preferred choice.

The company has departments in 29 countries covering both Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America.

DanBred sets long-term and balanced breeding goals, which are revised every few years to ensure that the genetic gain in DanBred Duroc, DanBred Landrace and DanBred Yorkshire delivers maximum profit, creating a sustainable high return on investment in leading production herds. Furthermore, the combination of the company’s strong breeding work and their crossbreeding program, has led to the development of the DanBred Hybrid production sow.

The company stands for healthy animals, innovation, transparency and knowledge sharing. In 2018 DanBred launched the Sow & Gilt Manual, a complete guide to handling DanBred sows and gilts, and in 2019, the On-Farm Boar Manual followed suit. All DanBred Manuals are available for all, either online at danbred-manual.com, or downloaded as an app.
